Privacy Policy
Effective 5 September 2026 · Applies to the SkyRay app for iOS and iPadOS, and to future Android releases.
SkyRay does not collect, store or share any personal data of its own, and there are no accounts and no analytics. Everything you add to the app stays on your device. The app shows a short ad after you connect, served by Google AdMob – see “Advertising” below for what that involves.
What the app stores on your device
- Server configurations you add (links, subscription addresses, names, and latency results).
- Settings such as routing mode, DNS servers and appearance.
- A connection log kept only on the device so you can diagnose problems. You can copy or clear it in Settings.
This data is kept in the app's private storage (an iOS App Group shared only with the app's own network extension). It is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it. If you use the optional backup export, the file you create contains your server credentials – keep it private.
Network connections the app makes

Beyond this, SkyRay contacts no server of its own: there is no telemetry and no crash reporting service. The one third-party SDK in the app is Google AdMob, covered next.
Advertising
After you connect to a server, SkyRay shows one short ad using Google AdMob. This is the only advertising or analytics SDK in the app.
- Consent first. Where required (the EEA, UK and Switzerland), a Google-run consent form asks your preference before any ad is requested. Everywhere, iOS separately asks your permission before the app can use the advertising identifier (IDFA) to personalise ads – you can decline this (“Ask App Not to Track”) and still use SkyRay normally; ads keep showing, just less targeted.
- What Google can receive to serve and measure an ad: your advertising identifier (if permitted), approximate IP-based location, device and app information, and ad interaction data. SkyRay does not send Google anything about the servers you add or your VPN traffic; that stays inside the tunnel.
- Google's own policies govern how it handles this data: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services. You can review or reset your ad personalisation choices for Google at adssettings.google.com, and control the advertising identifier itself in your device's Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
Your provider
SkyRay is a client. The servers it connects to are operated by whoever gave you the configuration. That operator can see the traffic that passes through their server, subject to their own privacy policy. Only add links from a provider you trust.
Device permissions
- VPN configuration – required to route traffic through the tunnel. iOS asks for your consent the first time you connect.
- Camera – only while you scan a QR code. Images are processed on the device and never stored.
- Clipboard – read only when you tap Paste. The app checks whether the clipboard contains text without reading it, so it can offer the Paste option.
- Siri & Shortcuts – optional actions to connect or disconnect. No voice or usage data leaves the device.
Children
SkyRay is not directed at children, is not listed in a kids category, and does not knowingly serve children under 13. Ads are requested without child-directed treatment.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
